February Match Results Are in!

81 Shooters brought out their "Heaters" on a cold February morning!

Well the weatherman was way wrong on the forecast, but that did not keep 81 folks from showing up for a great match, including 19 brand new shooters!   One year ago we had 52 shooters at the Feb 2012 match.  We know that our exciting and challenging stages with great props is what keeps you coming back for more and thanks to some great work by our core Safety Officers we had six terrific stages that offered a great mix of movement and distances, something for all skill levels.  We pride ourselves on a having some of the nicest folks you could ever shoot with, putting great value on our fellowship and friendships.  Well we set a new record with 25 shooters joining us for lunch at Main Street BBQ in Pevely after the match today.  We took just about every table and seat in the restaurant!

During and after the match we are always looking for feedback from our shooters.  Please know that we welcome your comments, suggestions, critique - you are why we continue to be such a success.  From a group discussion today with about 10 shooters came a very interesting idea - worthy of hearty consideration.  Today's stages required right at 100 rounds to finish.  The shooter suggested that we run the same course of fire but only put ONE round on every target.  You still run a full match, get all the same scenarios, all the running and gunning - but with one half the ammo expended.  Unusual - but sure worthy of considering as everyone deals with very short (non-existent) supply of ammunition and reloading supplies.

We will take that idea under consideration.  A few shooters asked today about allowing .22 pistols in the match.  We do, for Junior shooters, but we really try to be within the spirit of IDPA, focusing on the Defensive Pistol part - which means in reality a 22 pistol is not considered a defensive firearm.  But NO idea is excluded.  So give the match directors your thoughts as we plan the next few month's matches.

Speaking of that,  Mark Goede advises we only have 50 shooting slots left open for the Missouri State Championship.  So if you plan to shoot you need to get signed up ASAP.

Touch base with Mark G if you want information on NRA Life Membership for $300!

If you need to shoot a classifier match remember that Benchrest Gun Club in Wright City is running one next Saturday.  IDPA Match Director Dave Euson runs a great match!   http://www.shootingstl.com/drupal/content/pistol-competition

Will Steffen is conducting a pistol ammunition reloading DEMONSTRATION this Tuesday 2/12 from 6pm-9pm at the ARPC classroom.  RSVP required, only ARPC members.  willsteffen@gmail

I offer my sincere thanks to the core group of IDPA shooters at ARPC who work so hard behind the scenes to help us run a match every month;  stage design, match registration, early morning match buildout....   It takes a team and we have one of the finest in the country!
